Open Day Information

While we would love to welcome you into our Nursery to show you around and let you experience what Ballymagee has to offer, unfortunately this cannot currently be facilitated due to restrictions and risk mitigations around Covid and so you can access our virtual tour via the link below.


At a time when non-essential access for current parents and visitors is restricted, it would go against our risk mitigations/assessments and the directive from the Department of Education to host Open Days. The responsibility we hold for the safety and well being of those children and staff who are here every day must be our priority.


We trust that you will understand that this has not been an easy decision to make and hope that it is indicative of just how seriously we take the responsibility to look after the children who attend Ballymagee; the duty of care which parents entrust to Ballymagee will always be paramount in our decision making.

Key Dates - Pre School Admissions September 2022


The Department of Education has determined the total enrolment number for Ballymagee Nursery Unit to be one class of 26 children; part time provision from 9 - 11:30am daily.


Where we have more applications than places available, we apply our admissions criteria to determine allocation of place. Criteria are set by the Board of Governors and reviewed annually. They are available from the School and the Education Authority websites.


Occasionally, a  place becomes available in the Nursery, outside of the Open Enrolment process, and parents who are interested in their child moving to Ballymagee Nursery should make contact through the school office, in the first instance, to check availability of space.

Ballymagee Nursery Admissions Criteria 2022-2023



The Education Authority (EA) manages the process of online applications for admission to Pre School.


A portal for parents, to apply online for a place, is used and requires parents to list preferences of schools. This replaces the previous paper based application form.


For the forthcoming academic year, parents will need to upload their child’s birth certificate to the Education Authority portal. Those applying under the 'socially disadvantaged criterion' will also need to submit their benefit verification. Some providers will also seek other verification documents at this stage in the process.


Information on the procedures for school admissions in September 2022 will be available on this website and the EA website from Friday 17 December 2021.
