Admissions

The Department of Education has determined the total enrolment number for the Primary School to be 406 children.

We make provision for 58 Primary One children, and up to 60 children in each of the P2-P7 year group classes, providing the school's enrolment number is not exceeded. Where we have more applications than places available, we apply our admissions criteria to determine allocation of place. Criteria are set by the Board of Governors and reviewed annually. They are available from the School and the Education Authority websites.

A few places become available each year in P2-7, outside of the Open Enrolment process, and parents who are interested in their child moving to Ballymagee Primary should make contact through the school office, in the first instance, to check availability of space.

Primary One children join the school through a carefully structured induction programme. Class teachers visit most pre-school groups in June to observe our September new starts in a familiar environment and  liaise with the pre-school staff. We gather information from parents and any professionals who may be involved with a child to prepare for their induction.
