Learning Today to Discover Tomorrow

P1 Miss Gibson

Starting ‘Big P1’  is a huge step, and the boys and girls in P1G have settled in beautifully.

Our classroom has been full of laughter, curiosity and creativity, where the children have been learning through play, exploration and friendship. We have put a focus on building strong foundations in early literacy and numeracy while encouraging confidence, kindness and a love of learning.

In Literacy, we are beginning to use the Jolly Phonics programme to explore the sounds of the letters S, A, T, P, I, and N, through songs, games, and hands-on activities that make early reading and writing come alive. We enjoy trying to write these new sounds on our whiteboards and spot them around the school and home environment!

In Numeracy, the children have been using cubes and lots of other creative counting objects to make sets. We will be enjoying the number stories of one, two, three, and four, using practical materials, storytelling and plan to build a deep understanding of early number concepts.

Our new topic, “The Stick Man,” has sparked lots of imaginative learning across the curriculum. In particular, the boys and girls are enjoying exploring our Stickman themed play area and creating their own stickman family using natural materials.

Learning in Primary One is active, engaging, and full of joy as the children explore the world around them in fun and meaningful ways! We love getting our welly boots on and exploring the outdoors - what a better way to learn about Autumn time than see it for ourselves!

We have also started our rehearsals for the Merry Mouse nativity.  We can’t wait to showcase your fabulous little ones when you come to see them in them in action!

Keep an eye on our page as we will be updating it with all our exciting learning experiences!
