At Ballymagee, music truly fills the air! We are proud to offer a rich and varied programme of musical tuition that nurtures the talents and creativity of our pupils from the earliest years upward. Each week, our timetable of instrumental and vocal lessons gives children the opportunity to explore their musical abilities, perform with confidence, and shine:

Alongside our dedicated school staff, we are fortunate to have the support of a wonderful team of peripatetic music tutors — both privately and through the Education Authority — who share their expertise in teaching strings, brass, percussion, piano, and voice. Their enthusiasm and skill help to inspire our young musicians and ensure that each pupil receives high-quality, personalised musical guidance.

As Leonard Bernstein once said, “Music can name the unnameable and communicate the unknowable.” At Ballymagee, music is more than just a subject — it is a joyful part of everyday school life.

Our Junior and Senior Choirs rehearse each week and perform throughout the school year at assemblies, concerts, and community events. These performances celebrate our pupils’ hard work, teamwork, and growing confidence, bringing our school community together in song.

Whether learning their first few notes on the violin, keeping rhythm on the drums, mastering a new piano piece, or singing in harmony with friends, our pupils are encouraged to harness their natural musicality and develop their creativity to the fullest.
